As we embark on the blessed journey of Ramadan, I wanted to take a moment to share some insights into my artistic process and the journey of creativity that I am navigating.
As a textile artist, my passion lies in creating intricate designs that reflect the beauty of the world around us. However, I must confess that I do not possess all the tools and resources necessary to bring my visions to life entirely on my own in my online shop.
One aspect that I want to be transparent about is my reliance on digital tools such as Canva and Creative Fabrica to aid me in my creative endeavors. While some may view this as a limitation or a compromise on artistic integrity, for me, it's about leveraging the resources available to me to the best of my abilities.
I am not the traditional artist who excels in hand-drawing skills, but I am adept at utilizing software to edit and refine my designs.
With subscriptions to platforms like Creative Fabrica, I have access to a treasure trove of illustrations created by other talented designers. These licenses allow me to modify and adapt these elements into unique compositions that resonate with my artistic vision.
It's important for me to clarify that while I may not be physically crafting every element of my products from scratch, I am deeply involved in the creative process. Collaging and blending different elements together to form new images is where my creativity shines.
I like to think of it as a collaborative effort, akin to being part of a creative team.
However, I want to emphasize that my artistic integrity remains intact. I am not appropriating or stealing from other artists; rather, I am respectfully utilizing their work within the bounds of the licenses I hold.
My products are a fusion of my own creativity and the contributions of fellow designers, resulting in pieces that are uniquely mine.
Additionally, I want to address any misconceptions about the separation between my business and my artworks as a textile artist.
While my products may incorporate elements sourced from other designers, my original artworks are a testament to my creative expression and personal vision.
As I reflect on my journey as an artist during this holy month of Ramadan, I am reminded of the importance of honesty, integrity, and gratitude.
While I dream of owning an iPad and mastering tools like Procreate in the future, for now, I am content with the resources I have at my disposal.
InshaAllah, with time and perseverance, I hope to continue growing as an artist and perhaps one day, fulfill my aspiration of creating everything from A to Z for my online shop and digital designs !
But until then, I am grateful for the opportunity to share my creativity with the world in whatever form it may take.
May this Ramadan be a time of reflection, growth, and renewed inspiration for all creatives, as we continue to weave our dreams into the fabric of reality.
Wishing you all a blessed Ramadan filled with peace, joy, and abundant creativity.
Sincerely,
Heartmade by Aunty Tiah
