Before sharing Layinah’s words, I want to say how touched I am by this heartfelt feedback. It means so much to know that my dedication to bring Art & Craft workshops to the community has had such a positive impact. Seeing how the Arty Crafty Crescent Club became a space for creativity, self-care, and connection for Layinah brings me so much joy. I’m incredibly grateful for her friendship, support, and the beautiful energy she brings to everything we do together.
Here’s what Layinah had to say…
Hey everyone,
I’m Layinah, and I co-run the Arty Crafty Crescent Club with the lovely Tiah.
I first met Tiah at the start of the year 2024 during an arts and crafts workshop she hosted for a special event at Battersea Art center . I don’t usually join group activities, but I was drawn to her beautiful products (online shop called « « Heartmade by aunty Tiah » currently closed) and the welcoming atmosphere she created. Tiah was genuine, warm, accommodating, and made everyone feel at ease. It was clear she truly enjoys what she does.
During that workshop, Tiah mentioned the weekly club she was starting nearby at Cromwell house community hub, and I made the intention to join and attend regularly. At the time, I wasn’t feeling my happiest, but dedicating one day a week to myself—getting lost in crafts and creativity as a form of self-love—made a huge difference to my mental health and happiness.
I started attending weekly, had a great time, and even stayed after the sessions to help out with the children’s after-school activities. Before I knew it, we had become friends!
Fast forward to the close of 2024: Tiah now runs multiple regular workshops, we host arts and crafts sessions at events together, and I’m proud to call myself her right-hand woman as well as Co-Director of the Arty-Crafty Crescent Club CIC.
If you attend the club or bring your children, you’ll definitely see me around—whether it’s welcoming you with a smile, joining in the activities, or interacting with the kids. You might even catch us at events every now and then.
Don’t be shy! Come and say hello, join in, and let yourself get creative with us.
Remember: Fun isn’t just for the kids! We all deserve self-care and relaxation away from the daily hustle, stress, bills, and responsibilities. It’s okay to let your inner child roam free! You’d be surprised at what you can create. As Tiah always says:
“Everyone is an artist.”
