Finding Inspiration Through Loss: A Tribute Project for Bereaved Parents and Children

As an artist, I have always sought to infuse my work with meaning and emotion, drawing inspiration from the depths of human experience. Recently, I embarked on a project that holds profound significance for me – a tribute to a Palestinian artist whose legacy continues to resonate with audiences worldwide.

This endeavor serves as a testament to the enduring power of art to transcend boundaries and unite hearts in remembrance and reverence.

However, amidst this creative journey, I have also been grappling with the profound loss of my son in November 2022 at 21 weeks +5 of gestation. The pain of his absence weighs heavily on my heart, yet it is through art that I find solace and a means of honoring his memory.

This project, which I have not yet begun, holds immense importance for me as it represents a fusion of my personal grief and artistic expression.

In the midst of my grief, I found a lifeline of support in the Sorrow To Serenity Live Ramadan Coaching Programme. Hosted by the esteemed Hafizah Ismail, founder of Children of Jannah, this program provided me with invaluable guidance and comfort during a time of profound sorrow.

Hafizah, if you're reading this, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for the unwavering support you have provided. Your dedication to supporting bereaved parents is truly inspiring, and I want to assure you that despite the delays, my project remains a priority on my to-do list.

As I prepare to embark on the Sorrow To Serenity 2024 Live Ramadan Coaching Programme, I am filled with anticipation for the transformative journey that lies ahead.

Each session offers a unique opportunity to explore themes of loss, healing, and hope – themes that resonate deeply with both my personal experiences and artistic vision.

Through my artwork, I seek to capture the essence of resilience and the promise of reunion in paradise, echoing the sentiments of comfort and reassurance found in our faith.

This project serves as a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the unwavering hope of the Muslim community in the promise of reunion in paradise.

The vision for this project is inspired by the profound teachings of Islam, which offer comfort and reassurance in times of anguish.

In our faith, we find solace in the belief that our departed loved ones are embraced by divine mercy and await us in the eternal bliss of paradise. Especially when young children depart from this world prematurely, we find solace in the belief that they beckon us to join them in the realms of eternal happiness.

Despite the logistical challenges I have encountered in sourcing the necessary supplies, I remain steadfast in my commitment to bringing this vision to life.

I'm also making a doll representing child loss. With each stitch, I am reminded of the enduring power of art to heal, to inspire, and to transcend the boundaries of grief.

To those who may be navigating their own journey of loss and healing, I extend an invitation to explore the transformative power of art and the support offered by the Sorrow To Serenity programme.

As the Sorrow To Serenity 2024 Live Ramadan Coaching Programme approaches, I am filled with anticipation for the invaluable support and guidance it offers. With 12 sessions meticulously designed to address the myriad concerns of bereaved parents, along with three bonus live Q+A sessions, this program provides a lifeline of support for those navigating the turbulent waters of grief.

Join me on this journey of remembrance, healing, and hope as we navigate the complexities of grief together.

Do not forget :

“With pain there is comfort, with difficulty there is ease.”

With gratitude and warm regards,

Tiah
