We are thrilled to announce our upcoming “Pakistani Art Workshop” this Tuesday, July 23rd, where we’ll dive into the vibrant and colorful world of Pakistani trucks.
South Asian Heritage Month’s theme this year is “Free to Be Me,” and we can’t wait to see how you express your individuality and cultural pride through art.
Join us at 12 PM for women and 3 PM for children to create unique masterpieces. You can book your spot via Eventbrite, donate to support us, or just show up on the day! The event is free, funded by Wandsworth Arts.
My own journey with Pakistani truck art started with my travels in Pakistan.
Let me share the hilarious moment when I showed my Pakistani husband the truck I have just painted. His immediate reaction was, “That’s not a Pakistani truck!” Like typical Pakistani truck is something easy to find as a miniature to paint in the U.K !
Well, maybe it’s not traditional, but it’s certainly inspired by the beautiful, intricate designs that adorn trucks in Pakistan. And I love it because it represents my personal take on this incredible art form.
If you’re as fascinated by Pakistani trucks as I am, you might be wondering where to find them in the UK to get some inspiration. Unfortunately, authentic Pakistani trucks are a rare sight here, but you can find many images and videos online. When you travel to Pakistan, keep an eye out and take lots of pictures. The trucks there are a mobile canvas of cultural expression and creativity, and they never fail to amaze me.
To make the workshop accessible for everyone, we will also provide coloring pages for both women and children. Coloring is a wonderful, relaxing activity that can be less overwhelming for some of us.
And here’s a special note for families: dads and mums are welcome to stay and participate in the kids’ club. It’s a fantastic way for parents and children to bond over creativity and cultural exploration.
Don’t forget, the workshop is divided into two groups: women at 12 PM and children at 3 PM. This way, everyone can enjoy a comfortable and enjoyable creative experience.
We hope you’ll join us for this special event. Please consider donating via Eventbrite tickets if you want to support us. Let’s come together, celebrate our uniqueness, and let our creativity flow!
