As 2024 comes to a close, we at The Arty-Crafty Crescent Club are taking a moment to celebrate our achievements, reflect on the challenges, and set our sights on the future. This year has been filled with meaningful workshops, new initiatives, and community building, but it’s also highlighted areas where we have room to grow.
Here’s a look back at what we’ve accomplished in 2024 and how you can help us make 2025 even better!
Highlights of 2024
1. Workshops at Battersea Arts Center
This year, we began a two-year partnership with the Battersea Arts Center (BAC), where we hosted several hands-on art and craft workshops. These sessions brought together people of all ages to explore creativity and learn new skills in a fun, inclusive environment.
2. Celebrating South Asian Heritage Month
In July, we hosted vibrant Pakistani Truck Art workshops in honor of South Asian Heritage Month. These sessions allowed participants to connect with South Asian artistic traditions and create their own colorful masterpieces.
3. Refugee Week 2024: ‘Our Home’
In June, we marked Refugee Week by focusing on the theme ‘Our Home.’ Through arts and crafts, we explored the importance of belonging, home, and community while raising awareness about refugee experiences.
Our name was not included on the banner, but our artworks were featured. There was a mix-up because I, Tiah, also work with another organization that was mentioned, and it wasn’t realized that the contributions came from two separate groups.
4. Art for the Community at Cromwell House
Throughout the year, our workshops at Cromwell House brought creativity to children and women in the community. These sessions have been a testament to the power of art in fostering connection and self-expression.
5. Fundraising Challenges
This year, we launched a crowdfunding campaign to support our workshops and programs. While we managed to raise under £100, it’s clear we need to reach more people to sustain and expand our work.
Looking Ahead to 2025
1. Expanding Our Reach
One of our main goals for 2025 is to connect with a wider audience. We plan to enhance our social media presence, collaborate with local organizations, and build partnerships to ensure our art and craft workshops can impact more lives.
2. Strengthening Community Engagement
We’ll continue working with community hubs like Cromwell House and Battersea Arts Center to provide inclusive, engaging workshops for people of all ages and backgrounds.
3. A Better Crowdfunding Strategy
To support our work, we aim to develop a stronger crowdfunding campaign in 2025. This means creating compelling content, reaching out to our community for support, and using the funds to make art more accessible for everyone.
